The task of this competence center is to unlock and structure the content of documents so that they are comprehensible to computer systems. The extraction of document content must always be oriented on the requirements of particular users or groups thereof.

Various work processes deal with the transfer of document content into a form suitable for further processing. One example is the transfer of important customer data from hand-filled forms into prepared electronic templates. Considerable resources could be saved if only this processes were to be automated.

Document analysis techniques at the forefront of workspace optimization research are not limited to the transfer and transformation of information but are also useful to implement and support more complex operations, e.g. the preparation of company visits. In this context, for example, the system is viable to automatically collect necessary information.
